FCT CP Imposes Curfew Ahead Saturday Council Election

The Commissioner of Police, FCT Command, Sunday Babaji has revealed that adequate security measures have been put in place to forestall any threat ahead of Saturday’s area council elections in the Federal Capital Territory, (FCT).

According to a statement signed by the Command’s spokesperson, DSP Josephine Adeh, he stated that curfew has been imposed between the period of 12mid night – 4pm of the said day.

The CP also reminded all stakeholders in the election to be abreast of their signed peace accord and ensure that their actions and inactions were ushered by constituted guidelines.

Recall that prior to the notice from the police, the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, had hinted that elections will not hold in 593 polling units owing to their recent creation without valid voting population deployed to those places.

The election, which is best described as an off season poll, is expected to take place across the six area councils making up the FCT.
