Commissioner of Police in Edo state, Phillip Ogbadu, says they have recovered a huge some of N37million and five cars suspected to have been used during the deadly bank robbery in Uromi.
Recall that on Thursday afternoon, around 20 armed men stormed and attacked four banks in the town, operating for two hours without police intervention.
Security Focus gathered that the gunmen first attacked a police division in the area before proceeding to the banks.
The robbers were said to have blew the banks’ entrance doors with dynamites before gaining access.
Six persons were feared dead in the coordinated attack which reportedly occurred at about 4pm in Uromi.
The CP said the assailants abandoned the cash and vehicles after realising that the police were closing in.
Edo deputy governor, Phillip Shaibu, visited Uromi under Esan North-East Local Government Area over the incident.
He consoled the people and business owners, assuring that the perpetrators would be apprehended.
