Two among a gang of five armed robbers who robbed four Point of Sales(POS) operators of thousands of naira at the Rumuagholu, a community in the outskirts of Port Harcourt metropolis, the capital of Rivers State on Thursday have been apprehended.
Eyewitnesses said the robbers had stormed the community in black SUV and started going from one POS operators to another, robbing them at gunpoint.
One of the traumatized victims said one of armed robbers was masked, while others were hooded and that she lost more than N100,000, phones and other personal effects.
“I was in my shop when the robbers came into my shop. One of them covered his face and one pointed gun at me demanding for money and my phone, while another was armed with a kitchen knife. About four POS shops were robbed. Immediately, it happened I rushed to block my account in my bank”.
After the robbery, the hoodlums escaped with their getaway car, but were later chased by the Police who were alerted members of the public.
It was later learnt that two of the robbers were arrested. One of them sustained injuries from gun duel with the Police. Cash and other stolen personal effects were recovered, while the rest gang members fled.
At the time of filing this report the Rivers State Police Command had not reacted to the robbery incident.
