The National Population Commission (NPC) plans to conduct a national census in April 2023.
Director-General of the Commission, Nasir Isa-Kwarra, gave this indication in Abuja at the end of the Council of State meeting.
He said the exercise, which will hold after the general election, scheduled for February and March 2023, will be preceded by the conduct of a pilot census in June, this year, after political party primaries.
The Director-General said the NPC would deploy high technology in the conduct of the national census.
He explained that through census, data was generated for planning, adding that the data currently being used are mere projections and obsolete.
The last census was held in August 2006.
