The Delta State Police Command has rescued five underage children from a brothel in Aragba, Otokutu, in the state’s Ughelli South Local Government Area, where they were trafficked and used as sex slaves.
The brothel was named Fagoma by the state Commissioner of Police, CP Ari Mohammed Ali, who revealed this to press on Wednesday, April 20, 2022.
On April 15, 2022, the Command got an intelligence report from the aforementioned Fagoma, which was previously registered as a hotel, was “being used as a brothel where underage children are trafficked and used as sex slaves,” according to the CP.
As a result of this alarming information, the Command invaded the brothel, rescuing the five underage girls: Happiness Johnson (13), Esther Godspower (21), Angel John (22), Miracle Bishop (19), and Happiness Isreal (19).
The CP further said investigations revealed that one Joy (surname unknown), now at large, trafficked the underage girls from Rivers State and transported them to Patani in Delta State, where they were forced to take an oath before being transported to Otu-Jeremi, also in Delta, where they were illegally harboured by one Edwin Etareri, the brothel’s owner, and his wife, one Mrs Grace Etariri, who is currently in custody.
Ten more male suspects and ten female suspected prostitutes were were apprehended during the raid, which occurred while the inquiry was still underway, the CP stated.
