The Adamawa State Police Command on Thursday warned against violating traffic rules, saying it threatens the lives of innocent citizens.
DSP Suleiman Yahaya Nguroje, Command’s Public Relations Officer, in a statement advised members of the general public, particularly drivers and tricycle operators to desist from driving against traffic rules.
“In order to checkmate this outright violation, the Command has set up a task force team to go after traffic violators and called on members of the public to cooperate with security agents while monitoring and enforcing such order so as to ensure public safety, public order and prevent all forms of careless and reckless driving,” the statement said.
According to him, the Commissioner of Police, CP Sikiru Kayode Akande, while urging members of the public to collaborate and cooperate with security agents, directed Divisional Police Officers within Metropolis, OC Central Motor Traffic Division and Operational Commanders to immediately apprehend violators of traffic rules and ensure their prosecution.
“The Command and other security agents while respecting the rights of the citizens, enjoined the public to avoid forthwith all forms of acts capable of threatening the safety of others,” he said.
He directed the Police Management Team to always go around to ensure compliance and enforcement.
