In a major breakthrough, the operatives of the Intelligence Response Team (IRT), have successfully apprehended four suspected notorious armed dealers in Plateau State.
The arrest was made possible following a credible intelligence gathering by DCP Olatunji Disu-led IRT on April 12, 2022.
Security Focus gathered that the suspects were among a six-man gang that supplies arms and ammunition to armed robbers and kidnappers who used the same to terrorize and promote inter-tribal crisis in Plateau, Bauchi, and Kaduna states.
Upon interrogation, one of the gang members stated that one Corporal Ahmed Raji, attached to 3rd Division Headquarters, Jos is their gang member, arms and ammunition supplier.
It was learnt that 51 rounds of 7.6mm live ammunition were recovered from the suspects.
The names of the suspects include Hamza Zakari aka Hamzo, a 20-year-old man who is a native of Sabon Tasha Kaduna state. Until his arrest, he was said to be residing at the Gangare ward, of Jo’s North Local Government area. Abubakar Muhammed, aka Fancy, 22 years old, a native of Darazo Local Government Area of Bauchi State, who until his arrest, was residing at Duwala ward in Nasarawa Gwamg in Jos North local government area of plateau state.
Others are Umar Ibrahim, 25 years old, a native of Wamba local government area of Nasarawa state. Until his arrest was residing at Bayan Katako ward in Jos North local government area of plateau state.
And Mohammed Abdul Karim aka Dan-Asabe, 34 years old native of Yelwa Village in Shandam local government area of plateau state. He was residing at Anguwan Rogo down Yankwaba ward in Jos North Local Government Area of Plateau state.
