Suspected Ritualists Kill Lady In Abuja, Dump Dismembered Body Near River

There was pandemonium at Kubwa, a satellite town in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja, on Monday as the decapitated body of an unidentified young lady was found at the river bank.

The body which was seen on Monday morning, at PW Kubwa, near Deeper Life had caused tension in the area and attracted a large crowd as residents thronged the location to catch a glimpse of the dismembered body of the lady.

The decapitated body was seen naked and was packed inside two bags and dropped beside the river bank by the assailants. Her body parts were cut into pieces with blood stains on the two bags.

It was gathered that the truck pushers, otherwise known as Bolar discovered the strange bags when traced where the offensive odour from the body was oozing from.

Some policemen from Kubwa and Bwari Divisional Police headquarters were seen at the scene taking photographs of the corpse and making an attempt to evacuate the corpse.

Some residents who spoke to newsmen said the body might have been dumped by suspected ritualists over the night. Though this could not be independently verified.

Confirming the incident the Deputy Public Relations Officer of FCT Police Command, ASP Oduniyi Omotayo said, “There was a killing and dismembered body of a human, suspected to be a middle-aged female,” but could not confirm whether it was ritual killing. He said an investigation is ongoing to unravel the circumstances that led to her death.

The Whatsapp statement reads, “We cannot at this point corroborate the tenet of many suggesting it was a ritual killing but unfortunately there was a killing and a dismembering of a human suspected to be a middle-aged female.

“The body was found alongside that of two dead animals and has been removed from the scene for necessary procedures according to standard best practices, while Investigation is ongoing to provide answers to salient questions, we urge the members of the public not to panic or spread panic by disseminating unverified narratives until facts surrounding the case is unraveled while the police remain on top of the situation”
