Police Partners Red Cross To Protect Human Rights In Anambra

As part of efforts at protecting, enforcing and promoting human rights in Nigeria, Anambra State Police Command is holding a two day training program for some of its officers and men in the Command on international human rights law.

 

The training which is taking place at the command headquarters Amawbia Awka-South local government area of the state has a total of 50 officers, including: sectional heads from State Criminal Investigation Department( SCID), Awka, Area Crime Officers and Divisional Crime Officers from Area Command and Divisional Headquaters nominated and are currently participating in the exercise which commenced 30th June and ends today, 1st July, 2022.

 

The Training which is also designed to enhance prompt responses to matters of human rights abuses while ensuring top-notch professionalism among Police Operatives in the discharge of their duties as officers, was declared open by the Commissioner of Police, Anambra State, CP Echeng Eworo Echeng who was ably represented by the Deputy Commissioner of Police, Anambra State, DCP Peter Ozigi.

 

The CP who thanked the organizers of the training, urged the participants to see human rights as a crime prevention strategy and a means to build Police confindence in members of the public as it is a way to strengthen institutional accountability and internal mechanisms.

 

Also at the training programme were Assistant Commissioner of Police ACP Anietie Eyoh, Chief Superintendent of Police CSP Mike Ojegbe and others.
