No Police Has Right To Search Your Phone, Police Spokesperson, Prince Olumuyiwa Clears Air

The Nigerian police have said no officer has the right to ask citizens to open their phones for checks.

 

The spokesperson of the Nigeria Police Force, Olumuyiwa Adejobi revealed this on Twitter.

 

Adejobi clarified after being asked a question by a Twitter user.

 

He said that any officer who insists on checking a citizen’s phone is not an officer but a scavenger. Adejobi in a tweet shared on his handle said except a phone is an exhibit for investigation, no officer has the right to ask a citizen to open his phone for checks.

 

“No Policeman has the right to check one’s phone anywhere except the phone is an exhibit in a case under investigation and that phone must have been marked exhibit. Any policeman who does that is not a policeman But rather a scavenger”
