The Niger State Police Command has foiled a robbery incident and recovered a car from fleeing robbers at Suleja, Suleja Local Government Area of the state.
The state Police Public Relations Officer, PRO, DSP Wasiu Abiodun, who made the disclosure in a statement in Minna, said the incident occurred on Saturday at about 1pm.
Abiodun explained that five suspected armed robbers attacked a GSM store along Morocco Road, Suleja shooting sporadically with pistol and carted away some numbers of handsets from the store.
According to him, upon the receipt of information about the incident, Police operatives attached to Suleja Area Command were quickly mobilized to the scene.
The statement stated, “while the robbers hurriedly drove off in a Peugeot 406 with Reg. No. ABJ 467 GX and after a hot chase towards the military checkpoint by Zuma rock, the robbers abandoned the vehicle and took to their heels into the forest”.
However, the Police and military operatives are on the trail of the fleeing robbers with a view to arresting the hoodlums.
The command further urged members of the public not to panic as security operatives are on top of the situation and further development will be made public.
