Again, Gunmen Strike, Abduct Scores Of Train Passengers In Edo

Months after terrorists struck and kidnapped many passengers on board Kaduna-bound train, another set of gunmen have invaded a train station and took scores away.

It was gathered that the incident happened in Igueben, Igueben Local Government Area of Edo State, South-South Nigeria.

The passengers who sustained injuries were said to be waiting to board a train at the venue of the incident, before heading to Warri, oil rich town.

Already, Police authorities have confirmed the latest development, according to TVC.

The Edo state police command said the gunmen who were armed with AK-47 rifles stormed the train station at about 4pm on Saturday January 7 shooting sporadically before unleashing their plans.

Gunmen had on March 28, 2022 attacked moving train which headed to Kaduna from Abuja, killing some and abducting many other passengers.

They released most of them, before Nigerian government resumed operations along Abuja-Kaduna train route in December 2022.

The Nigeria Railway Corporation is yet to comment on the latest development as at the time of filling this report.
