Army, Lagos Police React To Trending Video Of Soldier, Policeman Fighting In Lagos

The 81 Division, Nigerian Army has reacted to a viral video of a soldier fighting with a Policeman in Lagos State.

A statement issued and signed by Lt.-Col. Olaniyi Osoba said the Army division has commenced an investigation into the incident.

The video currently trending on social media shows a soldier engaged in a fierce fight with a policeman in Apongbon, Lagos Island on Wednesday.

Osoba said the Division was looking into the matter to fully ascertain what transpired between both parties.

He added that necessary sanctions will be taken after the investigation.

In the same vein, the spokesperson of the Lagos state police command, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, has reacted to the trending video of some police officers and army officers fighting at ijaya, Apongbo, in Lagos State on Wednesday, January 18.

In the video, a soldier attempted to disarm a police task force officer and he put up a fight.

In a tweet shared on his handle, Hundeyin said the soldierĀ had boarded a commercial bus and instructed the driver to drive against traffic. When the vehicle was stopped by the police, the soldier got angry and engaged the armed officer in a fight.

 

”The soldier, who was a passenger, directed the driver to drive against traffic. The policemen stopped the vehicle and the soldier took offense that the vehicle he boarded was stopped. He, therefore, decided to attack the armed policeman. The Army have been informed.”
