A housewife identified as Hajiya Kara’atu Tanimu been kidnapped in Jalingo, the capital of Taraba State.
Her abduction is coming barely a week after the wife of a Chief Superintendent of Police, CSP, was kidnapped in the Mile-Six area of the city.
Confirming the housewife’s abduction on Friday, the spokesperson of the Taraba State Police Command, Abdullahi Usman, said the incident took place in the Nasarawo area of Jalingo on Thursday night.
“It has been confirmed that there was kidnapping in the Nasarawo area of Jalingo. The house of one Alhaji Taminu Rabiu was invaded by hoodlums.
“Though Tanimu was not at home, he travelled to Saudi Arabia, but when they scaled through his house, they were able to kidnap his wife, Hajiya Karatu Tanimu and his brother Abdulhameed Rabiu,” Usman said.
He added that the kidnappers also made away with the victims’ mobile phones and the sum of N11,000.
Usman however assured that the police was on the trail of the hoodlums.
Also confirming the report, a family source who craved anonymity, said the kidnappers stormed the area in their numbers “last night and disappeared with Hajiya and the junior brother of Alhaji Rabiu”.
He urged the state government to collaborate with security operatives in rescuing the victims.
