48 Suspected Criminals Nabbed, Paraded By Amotekun In Ondo

No fewer than 48 suspected criminals were paraded on Monday by the Ondo State Security Network Agency, also known as Amotekun Corps, over alleged involvement in criminal activities in various parts of the state.

While parading the suspects at the headquarters of the Corps in Akure, the state capital, the Commander, Adetunji Adeleye, disclosed that they were nabbed for crimes ranging from kidnapping, theft, burglary, impersonation, anti-grazing and vandalism, among others.

According to the commander, operatives of the Corps would not relent in efforts to ensure the protection of lives and properties across the state.

Speaking on the forthcoming Islamic festival, Adeleye revealed that a total of 1,000 men would be deployed in order to prevent criminals from operating during the festivities.

He also spoke on the vandalization of public infrastructure.

“In Isua, we found out that so many transformers have been stolen, and so many cables servicing the transformer have been cut and taken away. By the grace of God and the support of the people, Amotekun has been able to break that terrible cartel.

“We were able to arrest about three different groups, and these three groups sell the products to a particular person who is at large. But the long hand of the law will soon catch up with him.

“In view of the forthcoming Ileya Festival, the Corps from tomorrow will deploy 1,000 men across the state, especially at the borders, prayer grounds, market places, and churches, to guarantee the safety of life and property during the coming holidays.

“We want to do enough work to prepare the ground so that people can enjoy their holiday and sleep with both eyes closed without fear of being molested.”
