Police operatives from Cross River State Command have arrested 20 criminal suspects.
Police Public Relations Officer, Irene Ugbo said the arrests were done in the last four months.
She disclosed this at the state police headquarters in Calabar on Wednesday, informing that their offences range from kidnapping, rape, armed robbery, cultism, and unlawful possession of firearms amongst others.
She stated that the command remains resolute and committed to continually partnering with community leaders, the state government as well as other sister agencies all in a bid to sustain the drastic reduction of crime wave across the state.
Ugbo appealed to members of the public to extend support and cooperation as security thrives with collective efforts.
“Let me also use this medium to solicit the support of the media to always engage in factual reporting as your role is critical in shaping public perception and ensuring accurate information is disseminated.
“Out of the 20 suspects arrested, 14 involved in cult, rape and robbery activities, have been charged to court, while the remaining would also be charged as soon as possible.
Ugbo enumerated items recovered to include phones, laptops, locally made pistols, criminal charms, and Indian hemp amongst others.
