Taraba Troops Nab Owner Of Abandoned Vehicle Carrying Arms

The Acting Assistant Director of the 6 Brigade, Army Public Relations, Captain Oni Olubodunde, said the troops have finally apprehended the owner of an abandoned vehicle found carrying arms in Taraba State

The vehicle owner, who was identified as Mallam Abubakar Adamu, according to a release issued out to journalists in the state, on Tuesday, was apprehended on Sunday alongside an accomplice in Wukari local government council of the state.

 

“In a follow-up operation to the recent recovery of an AK-47 rifle and a vehicle in Bantaje town of Wukari council, troops of 6 Brigade/Sector 3 Operation Whirl Stroke (OPWS) have conducted a follow-on operation and arrested the owner of the abandoned vehicle and another accomplice on 8 September, 2024.

“Following a thorough investigation and intelligence gathering, troops tracked down and arrested Mallam Abubakar Adamu, the owner of the abandoned vehicle and a suspect in the criminal activities in the area,” he said.

He said the suspect, during interrogation, confessed to have sent the driver who is still at large to convey the weapon from Doruwa village to Wukari in Wukari local government council of Taraba State.

He added that Mallam Abubakar was arrested in Mutum Biyu with two mobile phones, alongside the union driver, Mallam Isah Ibrahim who is also an accomplice.

“The two suspects are currently in custody and undergoing further interrogation to reveal the extent of their involvement in various criminal enterprises and to arrest the wanted driver of the vehicle,” Olubodunde said.

Elated by the development, the commander, Brigadier General Kingsley Chidiebere Uwa, in the statement, said the arrest is a testament to the troops’ commitment to maintaining peace and security in Taraba and its environs.
