Police Apprehend Man For Killing Hunter In Ogun

The Ogun State Police Command has arrested a 20-year-old man, identified as Faisal Audu, in connection with the alleged m8rder of a hunter, Saheed Awolesi in the Sagamu area.

 

It was gathered that officers from the Sagamu Police Division arrested the suspect on Sunday, October 6, 2024.

 

The spokesperson of the command, Omolola Odutola, who confirmed the incident said that Awolesi had reportedly gone night hunting around 9:00 p.m. on October 5, 2024, but did not return home.

 

This prompted his family and the hunters’ association to launch a frantic search for his whereabouts.

 

“Our detectives called the hunter’s mobile number, and it was answered at the Ibafo Police Station. The suspect had already been apprehended by officers from the division and was found in possession of the hunter’s phone and motorcycle,” the PPRO stated.

 

“A jackknife, a cutlass, and a mobile phone suspected to have been stolen were found in his possession. The suspect was later handed over to the Igbeba Police Division for further investigation

 

“During interrogation, the suspect confessed to k!lling Awolesi and stealing his motorcycle and mobile phone. He led officers to the crime scene, where the victim’s body was discovered, bearing signs of violent injuries.”

 

The spokesperson added that the body had been recovered and taken to a mortuary in Sagamu for an autopsy as part of the ongoing investigation.
