The Imo State Police Command has commenced an orderly room trial against four of its officers caught in a viral video maltreating and extorting money from people on the road.
The officers, who have been in detention for some days at the Command’s headquarters are identified as Inspector Ibrahim Nainna, Inspector Unaka Maxvirgin, Inspector Miller Ibinitta and Sergeant Antony Alozie.
The arrest of the officers followed the allegation levelled against them by staff of Young C Entertainment, a film production outfit, who were in the state for movie production.
A video posted by the victims showed how the police officers manhandled and forced them to give out some dollars found in their bags, which were part of the items for the shooting.
The explanation of victims that the dollars are not real fell on deaf ears as the officers went ahead to harass and extort money from them.
A statement by the Imo State Police Command spokesperson, ASP Henry Okoye, said the outcome of the orderly room trial will be communicated in due course.
