Bandits have abducted a military officer serving in the Nagwamase military cantonment in Kontagora, Niger state and killed three villagers out of nine people they abducted from their farms.
This abductions and killings are coming barely 24 hours after the Niger State House Assembly raised the alarm over the occupation of a military training camp at the Nagwamase military cantonment in Kontagora, Niger state and the denial of the Nigeria Army that the training camp is not occupied by bandits.
According to a reliable source, who pleased anonymity, the military officer was abducted on Wednesday afternoon from his farm around the bush where bandits are said to be occupying.
The abductors, it was learnt, are demanding N50 million ransom for the release of the military officer.
In a related development, the bandits abducted nine people from Masaha in Madera ward, one of the 23 communities that was said to have been sacked due to the activities of the gunmen.
It was learnt that all the nine men were picked by the bandits from their farms and three out of the nine were killed and their bodies dumped in the bush.
Ibrahim Enagi, the eldest son of one the victims, late Alhaji Alhassan Usman Enagi, told our reporter that his late father was abducted on his way back from the farm and he was among those shot in the bush.
“One of those who managed to escaped from the bandits came to tell us that my father and two other persons were killed because they complained of tiredness during the journey in the bush,” he added.
The bandits also on Thursday evening took over the Minna-Kontagora highway shooting sporadically into the air making motorists and commuters to scamper for safety.
