Operatives of the Bauchi State Police Command have arrested two suspects in separate incidents of child abuse, including the assault of a five-year-old girl and the alleged abduction of a 10-year-old girl.
In the first incident, operatives of the Command arrested one Shehu Isah ‘m’ aged 45yrs of Unguwan Karofi, in Kirfi Local Government Area of Bauchi State, for luring a five-year-old girl (name withheld), and forcefully having carnal knowledge of her in his room.
The incident was said to have occurred on the 25th January, 2025.
Spokesman of the Bauchi Command, CSP Ahmed Mohammed Wakil revealed the ugly incident on Wednesday.
He said the suspects were arrested following a tip off by residents.
Similarly, on January 16, 2025, detectives from Ningi Division arrested one Shafi’u Sule of Katsinawa Tabulawa village after he was found with a missing 10-year-old girl.
Investigation revealed he had kidnapped her the previous night and threatened to cut off her tongue and burn her alive if she screamed for help.
Both suspects have reportedly confessed to their crimes, and the cases have been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for further investigation and prosecution.
The Command reassured residents of its commitment to tackling crime and urged the public to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities.
