Police neutralise notorious bandit in Benue gun battle

A notorious armed bandit identified as Akumave Shogodo was killed during a gun battle with the Benue State Police Command’s Tactical Team in the Zaki-Biam axis on April 29.

Sources available to Zagazola Makama disclosed that at approximately 6:30 a.m., following intelligence gathering and analysis, the Command’s Tactical Team stormed a suspected criminal hideout.

Upon sighting the officers, the bandits opened fire, leading to a gunfight.

The team, equipped with superior firepower, successfully subdued the bandits.

Shogodo, a well-known bandit terrorizing the Zaki-Biam area, was injured in the exchange of gunfire.

He was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment but was later confirmed dead. A locally fabricated short gun was recovered from him.

Other members of the gang managed to flee with varying degrees of injury.
