Gunbattle between the military operatives and bandits have continued unabated, following the murder of two soldiers along the Gusau – Funtua highway.
It was gathered that since the murder of the military operatives, soldiers have continued to engage the bandits on fire for fire operations, insisting they will not retreat nor surrender.
It was learned that in many parts of the state, soldiers have been stationed in strategic places waiting for the bandits to appear.
One Usman Magazu told newsmen that at the Gusau – Funtua highway, there was a serious gun duel between the military and the bandits which lasted for several hours.
According to him, the villagers in the area no longer care about farming to save their lives from banditry,” he remarked.
“The military believes the terrorists have touched the lion’s tail. I don’t think the common man is safe as a battle of supremacy between the two rivals continues”, he lamented.
