The Akwa Ibom State Police Command has uncovered a gun-making factory run by a father and his sons, where various firearms are manufactured and sold to criminals both within and outside the state.
The state Commissioner of Police, CP Joseph O. Eribo, revealed this during a press briefing at the Command Headquarters in Ikot Akpan Abia, Uyo, on Monday.
The factory was discovered following credible intelligence received by the command.
Police operatives acted quickly, raiding the facility and arresting one suspect, although others managed to escape.
