Zamfara State Police Command has rescued social activist, Hamdiya Sidi Shariff from the of bandits’ den.
This is contrary to speculation on social media that she was arrested and detained by the police in Bakura Local Government Area of the State.
The State commissioner of police, Ibrahim Maikaba said that the speculation claiming that Hamdiya Sidi Shariff was arrested and detained by the police in Bakura was not true.
According to the Commissioner, Hamdiya Sidi Shariff, who hails from Sokoto State, was abducted by suspected bandits but the police in Bakura rescued her and the Divisional Police officer brought her to the command on Thursday to be reunited with her family.
The Commissioner stated that the police ensured that all medical examinations were carried out on Hamdiya with a view to ensuring she is in good health conditions before they handed her over to her relative, Fatima Bello.
Hamdiya Sidi also narrated her situation, refuting the claim that she was arrested and detained by the Police.
A relation of the kidnapped victim, Fatima Bello, who came to receive Hamdiya at the Zamfara Police Command, thanked the commissioner and the Divisional Police Officer, (DPO), Bakura Division, for rescuing Hamdiya.
