“We Lured Kaduna Ginger Trader From The Market To Kidnap Him ” – Suspects

Members of a Kaduna State-based kidnap gang have confessed how they lured a ginger trader from the market to the bush before kidnapping him.

Two of the gang members, who have been arrested by the operatives of the Inspector General of Police Intelligence Response Team I (RT) also said that they killed one of their victims, because he identified the leader of the gang as one of his neighbours.

Two reverend fathers and two others were also victims of the gang’s s operations around Kushemakaranta, Rafinkinba, Kuditlri, Kwei, along Nasarawa road in Kaduna.

The Nigeria Police Force public relations officer, Frank Mba, who confirmed the arrest of the suspects, identified them as Babangida Usman and Sakisu Abdullai.

Twenty-eight-year-old Salisu Abdullai, in his confession, narrated that “I have no father, no mother. I voluntary joined the gang. I am married with three children. I joined the gang less than one year ago. I was farming and was into cattle rustling before I joined the kidnap gang. ”

He further confessed that ” So far my gang has kidnapped six persons since I joined them. Our leader surveyed the area for prominent persons. He also gathered intelligence on victims after which he informed us on the victim to kidnap. We have kidnapped people from Kushemakaranta, Rafinkinba, Kuditlri, Kwei, along Nasarawa express road, Kurumikari, all in Kaduna state.”

The suspect continued that ” One of the victims that we also kidnapped was Chinedu, a businessman. He spent three days in our custody in the bush and was released him after paying N500,000. He was kidnapped in his house.”
