Salihu Kazeem, an Inspector with Rivers Command of Nigeria Police who was accused by a 17- year- old girl Binla (surname withheld) of taking her nude pictures and raping her around Ozuoba axis of Port Harcourt has been detained.
Rivers Commissioner of Police, Eboka Friday ordered the detention of the Inspector following on Wednesday following controversies generated by the allegation of the teenager against him.
It was learnt that CP Eboka directed that the Police Officer be detained after a statement from the alleged rape victim and the Inspector, while investigation into the case continues.
CP Eboka also directed that others mentioned in the statements of the alleged victim and Inspector Kazeem should be invited to give voluntary statements.
Also, it was learnt that the accused Police Officer was attached to Bayelsa Police Command, but resides in Port Harcourt.
The 17 year old girl had alleged that Inspector Kazeem stripped her and her friend naked, took their nude video and raped them over claim that she and her friend withdrew N500,000 from his account when he gave them his ATM Card for shopping during a visit to him.
She also claimed that the Inspector has been using the nude videos to blackmail them into having sex with him by threatening to share the videos on internet.
But the Police Officer had in an interview with journalists accused the girls of stealing 500,000 naira from his account after he gave them his ATM card.
He also denied taking the nude video of the girls or raping them but admitted having consensual sex with the 17 year old girl which he said he paid for.
Our Correspondent further reports that the Android phone belonging to the 17 year old girl that she accused Inspector Kazeem of seizing from her, was recovered from the Police Officer.
