A man suspected to be a terrorist blew himself up with an improvised explosive device (IED) in order to avoid arrest by security operatives in Kaduna State.
The incident occurred early Monday morning at Keke community in the Chikun Local Government Area in the state.
It is reported that the suspect has been on the radar of security agencies who trailed him to an apartment in Keke community.
A combined team of soldiers, officials of the Department of State Security Services (DSS) and policemen, surrounded the apartment and engaged the suspect in a gun battle.
The suspect then blew himself up after sensing that the security operatives were closing in on him.
Among items recovered from the man’s apartment are an AK-47 rifle and two other live explosive devices.
The explosives were later safely detonated by the anti-bomb squad of the Kaduna State Police Command.
The suspect’s mutilated body was later evacuated from the scene by security operatives.
Also, his wife and children were taken away for further investigation.
