Lagos Police Parade 27 For Cultism, Robbery, Pipeline Vandalism, Others

The Lagos State Police Command today paraded 27 suspects who have engaged in varying crimes including armed robbery, murder, cultism, vandalization and others.

The suspects who were arrested in the past three weeks were paraded at the Command’s headquarters in GRA, Ikeja, Lagos.

From all these cases which the police successfully cracked, a total of six arms, 12 liveammunition, one knife, two motorcycles, one vehicle and SIM cards were recovered.

On June 30, 2023, police operatives of the command swung into action and arrested 23-year-old Tobi Robert; 22-year-old, Opeyemi Adeosun; 20-year-old Jenkeo Olumide; 25-year-old Toheeb Tajudeen and 27-year-old Nurudeen Kazeem who are members of Kesari Confraternity were arrested when they were planning to retaliate their leader’s death on other rival cult members in Mushin area of Lagos State.

The Lagos State Police Spokesperson, Benjamin Hundeyin said that investigation revealed that they are a

notorious armed robbery/cultism gang terrorizing Mushin and its environs. The Police on July 11, 2023, arrested a group of boys suspected to be cultist brandishing arms to attack rival cult members in Ebute-meta area of Lagos State. Operatives of the command were dispatched to the area where 25-year-old Lukmon Odunsi and 21-year-old Junior Peter were apprehended with one jack knife.

Also, 31-year-old SegunIshola aka Bouncer and 21-year-old Auwal Daudaka Blessing were rescued from being mobbed in Aratunmi area of Iba Okokomaiko, Lagos State on June 28, 2023 for for shooting one Ojo Lion to death.

One locally made single Barrel pistol and one expanded cartridge was recovered from the scene.

The suspects were said to confessed to being members of Eiyeconfraternity. Further investigation led to the arrest of 29-year-old Adejare Oyelade; 27-year-old Oyekanmi Paul Kolawole; 31-year-old Omotosho Tunde; 36-year-old Moses Ishola; 28-year-old Wasiu Ojo; 38-year-old Tolulope Adebisi; 23-year-old Ifeoluwa Izokpu and Adebanke Bello . Four locally made single barrel pistol with two live cartridges were recovered from them.

On July 10, 2023 a gang of armed robbers, 28-year-old Yusuf Akeem ‘

and 22-year-old Taisiru Aminu attacked and robbed a resident of Agege, Lagos State that resulted in death of the victim. Investigation led to their arrest. One locally made double barrel short with ten live cartridges were recovered from them.

On June 29, 2023 a group suspected to have stolen motorcycles were arrested. Diligent investigation led to the arrest of 25-year-old Adamu Hassan; 22-year-old Abacha Hassan and25-year-old Abdulrasheed Abubakar. Two unregistered motorcycles were recovered from them.

On July 7, 2023 Operatives of the Lagos State Command based on credible intelligence arrested 32-year-old Morufu Alabede; 35-year-old;35-year-old Idowu Raji; 33-year-old Ibrahim Abubakar and 30-year-old Femi Afolabi a gang specializing in removing vehicles from park were arrested. One unregistered Toyota Corolla was recovered.

On July 6, 2023, police said that report was received on a group suspected to be vandals spotted in Iyana-odob axis of Idimu. Operatives of the command were dispatched to the area where 46-year-old Saheed Ramon was apprehended.

All suspects are to be charged to court immediately.

The Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command, Idowu Owohunwa, assured Lagosians that the command would continue to do everything operationally possible to ensure that crime and criminality is brought to the barest minimum in the State.
