AIG Umar Takes Over Zone 15 Command, As CP Lawan Assumes Duty In Borno

The newly-deployed Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIG) zone 15, AIG Abdu Umar, has assumed office as AIG Zone 15 command, as CP Yusuf Lawan takes over the leadership of Borno State Police Command.

AIG Abdu Umar reiterated the commitment of the Nigerian Police in surmounting the security challenges facing the nation in line with the vision and mission of the new Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun.

The new AIG zone 15, Umar, who gave the assurance when he assumed office at the Zonal Command Maiduguri on Monday, said: “I would foster the existing collaboration and synergy among   the security agencies in the state. I am posted to this command for the 7th time I was here as Area commander, DCP investigations, DCP Admin and Supply, DCP Operations, CP and no was AIG”.

“It is my pleasure and with gratitude to God for sparing my life to witness the occasion assuming of duty as AIG zone 15, I am not new in Borno and I am here to oversee the activities of Borno and Yobe State Command and report to the IGP through the DIG, Operations”, AIG Umar added.

He said the police was not only committed to safeguard human right but animal plants as well as environment right.

Earlier, the new Borno State Commissioner of Police, CP Yusuf Lawan has taken over the leadership of the state police command with called for synergy among stakeholders in fighting crime in the state.

Yusuf Lawan took over the mantle of the command from AIG Abdu Umar, who was elevated to the rank of AIG and listed as AIG Zone 15.

Addressing the senior officers and management of the command at the Police headquarters, Maiduguri on Monday, CP Yusuf Lawan said: “Policing is a clarion call, I promised to operate in line with highest standard of professionalism, ethics and in accordance with the world best practice of community policing”.

“With the restoration of civil authority it will provide a variable tool for community policing, where all stakeholders will be involved and community driven policing “, he added.

The CP said: “Our performance will be measured best on the satisfaction of the community. Though there is challenges of scared resource but with the synergy and collaboration with sister security organisations our mandate of achieving crime free society is achievable”.

Commending the IGP for finding him worthy to be the Commissioner of Police, the CP said: “Media is a critical partner in the fight against crime. I promised to engage the media in all our activities and I want to assured you that my doors are always open for constructive criticism”.

CP Yusuf Lawan is the 43rd Borno Commissioner of Police was commissioned into the Nigerian Police Force on 18th May 1992 as 17th ASP Cadet Course and was born in on June 8, 1965.
