AIG Decorates New ASPs, Charges Them To Increase Allowances To Their Wives

The Assistant Inspector General of Police for zone six Calabar, Jonathan Towuru has charged 39 newly promoted Assistant Superintendents of Police to realise that they have been promoted to higher responsibilities in the force.

He advised them to lead the rank and file efficiently, emphasising human rights protection.

Importantly, he directed them to increase the monthly home allowance they give to their wives since their promotions come with a commensurate pay increase.

Towuru, represented by the DCP Abayomi Shogunle of the Department of Finance, spoke when he, assisted by members of families, decorated the promoted officers.

The officers were all promoted from the rank of Inspector to ASP.

“On behalf of the Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, I want you to realise that from now on you are on the Supervisory cadre as a senior police officer. Your duty will entail supervising the rank and file as well as the Inspectors.

“As part of promoting human rights always, you should also take very good care of the home front by increasing their monthly food allowances since your promotions come with more money.

“You must key in into the Inspector General of Police mission statement.”

The AIG also used the opportunity to encourage policemen to regularly embark on Keep Fit exercises, so that they will be healthy to perform their assigned jobs well.

Commending the IG and leadership of the police in the zone on behalf of her colleagues, ASP Lucy Ejiba said the promotion will further motivate them to double their efforts on the job.
