Army, Police Strengthen Ties To Curb Insecurity In Plateau

The General Officer Commanding (GOC) 3 Division Nigerian Army (NA) and Commander Operation SAFE HAVEN (OPSH), Major General AE Abubakar has said the existing synergy between the army and other security agencies led to a drastic reduction in security challenges across the country, especially in the fight against criminalities in some volatile areas of Plateau State.

Lieutenant Colonel Ishaku Takwa, Acting Deputy Director, 3 Division, Army Public Relations, in a statement, said Abubakar stated this when the Commissioner of Police, Plateau State command, CP Okoro Julius Alawar paid him a courtesy call in his office at Headquarters, 3 Division, Maxwell Khobe Cantonment, Jos.

According to the statement, the Chief Of Defence Staff was desirous of a collaborative effort of all security agencies towards intelligence sharing, with a view to decimating criminals and providing a peaceful atmosphere for Nigerians

“There is the need for all security agencies to come together in unison and fight criminality,” he said

He commended the contributions of the police contingent in Operation SAFE HAVEN, adding that there is need to continue to engage the stakeholders in advocacy at the grassroot levels to end violence and restore stability in the State.

He further assured the Commissioner of Police of his resolve to strengthen the existing relationship between the Military and the Police in Plateau State.

Earlier, the Commissioner of Police, Mr Okoro Julius Alawar said that the courtesy visit was to familiarise himself with other security agencies and seek for strengthened synergy, which he said was critical to mitigating crime and ensuring stability.
