Anyone Indicted In Mohbad’s Death Won’t Go Unpunished, Says Police

The spokesperson of the Nigerian Police Force (NPF), Muyiwa Adejobi, on Monday said that anyone who is indicted in the death of Afrobeats musician, Ilerioluwa Oladimeji Aloba known as Mohbad will not go unpunished.

Adejobi said this while reacting to a post on X (formerly Twitter) which many Nigerians await the outcome of police investigation even though an alleged suspect in the case is currently out of the country.

“Anyone who is indicted in this case won’t go unpunished. Whatever it is, there must be investigation concluded and report forwarded for necessary action,” Adejobi said.

“If it is on this Mohbad matter, the matter has received due attention. Except there are hidden agendas that certain individuals want to use to cause unrest or incite the public against the government in Nigeria.

“I think we need to allow the investigation team formed by the police to carry out its investigations. There can’t be justice without investigation. Investigation encompasses so many things.

“Don’t be surprised that those you don’t know or you have not mentioned might be indicted. In the security business, we say trust no one. So, let us allow the team to do its job.”

Meanwhile, the spokesman of the Lagos State Police Command, Benjamin Hundeyin, last Thursday said that the body of the late musician, Mohbad can be exhumed for autopsy.

Hundeyin said this during an Instagram live session with media personality Ifedayo Olarinde also known as Daddy Freeze while fielding questions on the controversy behind Mohbad’s death.

He said this after Adejobi had in a statement also on Thursday noted that the Police will carry out a diligent investigation into the cause of the death of the late musician.

The Police has also encouraged family members or close associates of the late Mohbad with valuable information to approach the Lagos State Commissioner of Police to assist in this process.

Police also appealed to individuals to refrain from making statements or engaging in activities that could jeopardize the ongoing investigation as people’s trust and support are deeply valued.
