Unknown gunmen have reportedly killed nine members of a local vigilante group, popularly known as Yan Ba Beli in Gamji village in Ningi Local Government Area of Bauchi State.
It was gathered that the local vigilantes were ambushed last Sunday while combing the forest for the bandits terrorizing Ningi communities.
A member of the local vigilantes in the area, who spoke in confidence, disclosed that the bandits who laid a well-coordinated ambush in the forest, opened fire and overpowered them, killing nine of them instantly and injuring others.
The Caretaker Chairman of Ningi LGA, Hon. Ibrahim Zubairu Mato, also confirmed the incident.
He assured that the government would continue to do everything possible to protect innocent lives and properties in the area.
When contacted, the spokesman of the State Police Command, SP Ahmed Wakil did not respond to messages and calls put across to him as of the time of filing this report.
