Two days after the newly deployed Rivers State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Tunji Disu, had tasked policemen to track down and arrest those involved in the killing of the Divisional Police Officer of Ahoada Police Division, SP Bako Angbashim, the Bayelsa State police have captured one of the perpetrators involved in the tragic demise of the DPO.
The apprehended individual, identified as 43-year-old Onyekachi Ikowa, serves as the second-in-command to TuBaba, the leader of the notorious Icelander cult group in Rivers State.
The Bayelsa State Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Asinim Butswat, revealed that Ikowa was apprehended on November 18, 2023, in Yenagoa, where he had been seeking refuge after his alleged involvement in the heinous murder of Late SP Bako Angbashim in September 2023.
The Commissioner of Police for the Bayelsa State Command, CP Francis Iduh, has urged the Police Operatives to track down any other accomplices who may be hiding within the state. Furthermore, he emphasized that criminal elements would not find sanctuary in Bayelsa under his watch.
The captured suspect has been handed over to the Rivers State Police Command for further investigation.
