Three suspected criminals have been apprehended by the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in Kogi State.
It was gathered that the Kogi State NSCDC command paraded Faruk Abdullahi on Wednesday for procuring a fake employment letter from the Nigeria Maritime Administration and Safety Authority (NIMASA) for Sule Abdullahi at the cost of two million naira.
Also paraded was a self-acclaimed Pastor Chimezie, who allegedly collected over one million naira from AbdulBanu Ibrahim with the intent to assist him in investing in a coal mining business.
The command also paraded Atahiru Abuh, who was arrested for failing to deliver a car to Aishat Abuh after collecting the sum of N1,700,000.
Parading the suspects in Lokoja at the command headquarters on Wednesday, the Assistant Commandant General of NSCDC, Ahmad Ghandi, said the arrests were made after numerous complaints by the affected victims.
Referring to the job racketeering case, the NSCDC Assistant Commandant General disclosed that, upon discreet investigation, the employment letter procured by Faruk Abdul, a 31-year-old male, for his client Sule Nurudeen Darlington proved to be fake. This prompted the command to swiftly swing into action, leading to his arrest in his hideout in Kogi State.
Regarding the fake investment scheme, Ghandi stated that, upon receiving a complaint from AbdulBanu Ibrahim that a suspected self-acclaimed Pastor Chimezie had swindled him of one million naira, which he invested in a coal mining business, the command took prompt action and arrested Chimezie from his hideout in Ankpa, Kogi State. Atahiru Kebi was also apprehended from his hideout in Anambra State for failing to deliver a car to Aishat Abuh after collecting over One Million Seven Hundred Naira for the transaction.
The NSCDC boss added that all the suspects have confessed to the crimes and assured that they would be prosecuted after the completion of the investigation.
Ghandi reassured the people of the state of the command’s commitment to eliminating crimes and criminality, urging citizens to provide the corps with useful information that will lead to the arrest of criminal elements.
During an interview with DAILY POST, Faruk Abdullahi, a 31-year-old male from Kano State, admitted that he collected money from his client to secure a job at NIMASA.
Other suspects, such as Atahiru Kebi, accused of not delivering a car after collecting millions of naira, and Pastor Chimezie, accused of collecting over one million naira to invest in a coal business for his client, confessed to the crimes.
