Troops of 6 Brigade, stationed in Jalingo, Taraba State, were involved in a fierce confrontation with notorious bandits in the Wukari Local Government Area.
Brigadier Kinsley Uwa, the Brigade Commander, revealed that the clash erupted in response to gunshots heard near a disputed land along Tsukundi Road in Wukari.
The 93 Battalion, operating under 6 Brigade, swiftly responded to the situation.
“Upon reaching the scene, the troops discovered two lifeless individuals, presumably victims of the assailants, while a person with a gunshot wound received immediate medical attention.
“Displaying exceptional courage and professionalism, the troops meticulously combed nearby bushes, engaging armed groups,” Uwa said.
“Confronting the armed groups, the soldiers effectively employed their superior firepower, compelling the militias to abandon their positions and flee.”
During the operation, the troops successfully recovered a significant cache of weapons, including two AK-47 rifles with 36 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition, 10 empty cases of 7.62mm, one double barrel rifle, and one single barrel rifle with 14 live cartridges.
Brigadier Uwa emphasized that this engagement underscores the unwavering commitment of the military to uphold peace and security in Taraba State.
He assured residents and the general public that the relentless efforts of 6 Brigade’s troops will persist until all criminal elements within the state are eradicated from their enclaves.
