Gunmen Attack Nasarawa Community, Policeman Killed, Two Abducted

Yet to identified gunmen have again invaded Wamba community in Nasarawa State, killing a police officer and abducting two persons.

The attack, which occurred late Sunday night, was targeted at the residence of the Chu Buh, Mr Mondeh Toma Chagga, in Nakere, Wamba LGA.

It was learnt that the assailants, who remain at large, managed to steal the police officer’s rifle before fleeing the scene.

It was also gathered that although the traditional ruler narrowly escaped harm, his aide, Kefas Tari Shehu, and Shehu’s wife, Patience Tari, were not as fortunate, as they were abducted and taken to an undisclosed location.

According to a resident of the community, the attack took place around 10:30 pm, with men of the Nigerian Military arriving shortly after the gunmen had fled.

The kidnappers have since contacted the victims’ family, demanding N20 million ransom for their safe return.

This is not the first time Wamba community has been attacked.

In February, gunmen killed a youth leader, Tari Gbaja, and abducted two other residents, including a businessman, as well as Mrs Tabitha Musa, the wife of Pastor Dauda Musa of the Christ-Elect Revival Mission.

Efforts to reach the police for comment as of press time proved abortive. No official statement has been released at this time.
