A farmer, Mr. Adewumi Babatunde, has been kidnapped on his way from his farm in Omu-Ekiti, Oye Local government.
Mr. Babatunde was abducted yesterday afternoon between Omu and Ayede-Ekiti.
Confirming the incident, wife of the victim, Mrs. Bosede Babatunde said the kidnappers had contacted the family and demanded for three million naira ransom.
Also, the Owajumu of Omu-Ekiti, Oba Adeyeye Ogundeyi who lamented incessant kidnapping of indigenes especially farmers in the area, urged government to provide watertight security in Omu-Ijelu-Ayede Road.
When contacted, the Ekiti State Police Public Relations Officer, Mr. Sunday Abutu said he had not been briefed on the matter and promised to investigate.
